WHY IS EXPERIMENTAL PHENOMENOLOGY IMPORTANT?

[insight problem solving and memory, in particular the subjective “Aha experience”]Eph is important because we need to go beyond reaction times to fully grasp the richness of human experience. Especially for phenomena in higher cognition, subjective experience should not be regarded as too “soft” for hard science: instead of focusing only on the cognitive component of insight (i.e. restructuring) it is time to take into account the affective component as well, by obtaining direct records of solvers’ subjective solution experience.
